Joshua Jacob—also known through his music as JBJ—is a traveling singer, songwriter, guitarist, and worship leader originally from Dallas, Texas.
Roots and formation
A life shaped through music.
Josh’s life as a musician began at a young age as a drummer in his father’s church. Growing up as the third son of a preacher was not always easy, and music became a place where he could wrestle honestly with faith, identity, and purpose.
Fourteen years after those early beginnings, Josh carved his own path toward the Northeast. While working the jobs needed to keep moving forward, he became a worship director and gained invaluable experience leading a band, shaping musical dynamics, and growing as a performer.
During his years in Boston, Josh completed his first solo album, Tin Man, in spring 2015. His second solo album, So Close, followed in February 2018. He continues to write, record, perform, and explore what his next body of work can become.

Josh has performed as a solo artist and with other musicians, including his New England band Blended Family. His road has taken him through Boston, Dallas, Paris, England, North Carolina, Atlanta, and other communities where music has opened doors to worship, conversation, and connection.
His voice can move from a low rumble to a haunting falsetto, but range alone is not the goal. Josh brings warmth, honesty, and an unmistakable passion to each performance—whether the room is a church, a stage, or a gathering built around service.

Josh strives to create music that is true, honest, and authentic to who he is. Life experience—heartache, love, homelessness, beauty, prejudice, faith, and the people he meets—continues to inform both his music and his view of the world.
His hope is that music can awaken, encourage, ask better questions, give voice to people who feel overlooked, and create more beauty in the world. Josh Beyond Borders carries that hope into travel, worship, service, and relationships across cultures.
